Water stewardship is an ethic by which British Columbians care for and are responsible for the sustainability of the water resource and aquatic ecosystems. The Ministry of Environment’s Environmental Sustainability and Strategic Policy Division provides provincial leadership in ensuring the water resources and aquatic ecosystems of British Columbia are safe, sustainable, and valued by all. Aquatic bioassessment information is used to indicate water quality impacts and watershed health.

 

As Aquatic Resource Biologist, you ensure the development of an effective provincial aquatic biomonitoring program, and your expertise leads the way in the area of climate change vulnerabilities for water quality and aquatic ecosystems protection. This crucial position is the provincial scientific authority responsible for developing and leading the provincial Reference Condition Approach (RCA) Bioassessment project with the objective of creating standardized processes for provincial aquatic biomonitoring and expanding the coverage of the existing or new RCA models. Your role requires a blend of scientific analytical and leadership capabilities to coordinate and collaborate across numerous regions and agencies. This is a position perfect for a superior communicator with strong technical writing and public speaking skills.
