The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) is looking to fill a Toxicologist 2 position. The position will be located in our Northwest Regional Office (NWRO) in Bellevue, WA.
This position serves as a senior program expert on general risk assessment methods in the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Cleanup Regulation and Sediment Management Standards (SMS). This position gives you an opportunity to work on a variety of diverse projects statewide and gives you exposure to a broad spectrum of different cleanup sites throughout the section. The key responsibilities include: (1) Independently preparing or evaluating human health and ecological risk assessments and cleanup level determinations for individual sediment and upland cleanup sites. (2) Providing technical support and training for Ecology site managers and external parties; and (3) independently reviewing new scientific information and providing recommendations for site cleanups and updating rules and guidance.

Accidental spills of dangerous materials and past business practices have contaminated land and water throughout the state. The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) works to remedy these situations, which range from cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, to large, complex projects requiring engineering solutions. Our mission is to get and keep contaminants out of the environment.
Upland and sediment cleanup sites may significantly impact the health of communities that reside on or are adjacent to these sites. The person in this position independently prepares or evaluates human health and ecological risk assessments and cleanup level determinations for individual upland and sediment cleanup sites. Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in toxicology or in a health or ecological related science with a major emphasis in toxicology AND one year of toxicology experience.
OR
A Master’s of Science degree in toxicology or in a health or ecological related science with a major emphasis in toxicology and three years of experience as a toxicologist.
