Sustainability Program Coordinator/Manager
The Sustainability Program Coordinator will support the university’s advancement of sustainability strategies and goals through connecting communications, outreach, education, behavior and communications with sustainability commitments. This position designs, implements, modifies and manages sustainability engagement, operational and behavior change programs. The successful applicant will track behavior and savings impacts, increase awareness of sustainability efforts and promote sustainability throughout campus operations. This position also oversees student staff members.
- Develop and manage programs that promote sustainability throughout campus operations
- Lead and manage campus behavior change programs designed to engage students in sustainability initiatives
- Oversee day-to-day activities of sustainability programs on campus
- Prepare and manage project budgets
- Manage and report on project/program status and develop project impact evaluations
- Lead and manage campus behavior change programs designed to engage staff and faculty in sustainability initiatives
- Support departments as they develop programs that advance our sustainability performance
- Communicate and market sustainability efforts and initiatives
- Foster a campus culture of sustainability via regular communication through diverse venues
- Develop outreach strategy for sustainability programming with campus departments
- Assist the Communications Office and other departments to secure coverage of sustainability initiatives
- Build awareness and recognition of Lehigh’s sustainability brand
- Organize events that promote sustainability and engage target audiences
- Prepare and manage events budgets
- Plan Earth Day fair and organize Earth Week activities
- Facilitate participation in national environmental and sustainability events and competitions
- Facilitate participation in Lehigh-specific or local events and competitions
- Develop culture of sustainability on campus through outreach and engagement initiatives
- Develop and maintain partnerships with campus departments and groups
- Partner with student groups, departments/academic departments, and existing councils/committees/groups
- Support sustainability working groups and committees, as necessary
- Represent Lehigh in local, regional & national organizations, events & conferences
- Act as an effective advocate and collaborator for advancing a culture of sustainability at Lehigh
- Integrate sustainability into existing and new Lehigh programs, events and activities
- This position is responsible for driving university-owned vehicles as a occasional function, therefore a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and a good driving record is required
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in an environmental or related field is required, Master’s Degree is preferred
- Three to five years related work experience
- Experience overseeing student workers or working with students in a mentorship role
- Experience working with residential hall staff a plus
- Engagement with student groups
- Some experience with design
- Content creation or editing
- Familiarity with social media
- Experience in behavior change a must
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing ability and organizational skills
- Solid computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software
- Solid presentation skills
- Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
