Under the general supervision of the Provost of Colleges 9 & 10, Flora Lu and the American Indian Resource Center Director Rebecca Rosser, the incumbent will coordinate multiple programs, provide administrative support and perform supervisory duties of student interns for the new campus initiative, People of Color Sustainability Collective (PoCSC). This collaborative campus effort aims to showcase the efforts that people of color have made, are making and will make to advance sustainability locally, nationally and globally.

The incumbent will further development the relationship between the UCSC Sustainability Office, sustainability programs on campus, the Ethnic Resource Centers and Colleges 9 & 10. Key to that work will be organizing joint programming opportunities while raising awareness of the initiative. The incumbent will work with student populations including Native American, Chicano/Latino, African American, Asian American/Pacific Islander students to learn how the university can better represent their worldviews in the efforts of environmental studies and other programs on campus. The incumbent will also assist in developing and executing co-curricular, academic, educational and collaborative programming among all the Ethnic Resource Centers in partnership with other campus entities and academic departments.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Ethnic Studies, Liberal Arts, or related field OR equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in creating, implementing, and publicizing diverse, successful, mostly low-budget small scale events.
  • Excellent initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization skills and abilities to independently establish priorities and complete concurrent assignments.
  • Strong cultural competency skills to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
