Job description

The Development Assistant will primarily support Grist’s Development Department and handle a wide variety of fundraising tasks including donor research, proofreading, donor strategy, database management, mailings and general donor outreach.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Support the day-to-day operations of Grist’s development department, including appeal production, donor correspondences, grant proposals and reports, meeting preparations, gift acknowledgements, and other mailings
  • Manage the identification of new donor prospects, including preliminary prospect research and tracking
  • Assist in managing donor portfolios, tracking outreach, meetings, program updates, follow-up, etc.
  • Assist in the logistical support of meetings and special events
  • Maintain information in the donor database and create reports and metrics as needed
  • Oversee the production of monthly cultivation emails and other donor correspondence
  • Respond to donor and staff inquiries and other special projects, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree; 1-2 years of experience in development/fundraising required
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Strong database skills (familiarity with Salesforce is a plus); experience with email-marketing systems preferred but not required
  • Experience with prospect research and portfolio management a plus
  • Ability to oversee details of complex projects with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • A wicked sense of humor

This position will be located in Seattle, WA.
