Learning Manager, Outdoor Learning & Certifications (Seattle or DuPont)
$40,461 per year, full-time with excellent health and leave benefits

Girl Scouts of Western Washington (www.GirlScoutsWW.org<http://www.GirlScoutsWW.org>) is seeking a Learning Manager; this position will have responsibilities for supporting up to two volunteer learning facilitator teams, up to two regional volunteer conferences and all curriculum and support of outdoor certification workshops. The Learning Manager partners or consults with other departments, girl and adult volunteer members to determine volunteer and girl learning needs. They will be the lead for developing and supporting an interdepartmental team responsible for the organization governance accountabilities – delegate elections and the annual meeting. Partners or consults with other departments, girls and volunteers to determine volunteer and girl learning needs and collaborate on development of effective learning delivery model that align priority outputs with resources. Revises Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Seattle or DuPont.

Essential Functions:

Identify facilitators/instructors for workshops, negotiate sites, and support facilitators’ ability to obtain necessary supplies (food and equipment) for department outdoor and certification courses. Ensure all necessary program materials are kept updated and available to the regional offices and the volunteer facilitators/instructors and that all invoices are paid and receipts returned in a timely manner.

Supervise and provide support and skill development opportunities for volunteer Facilitators who facilitate outdoor education and/or certification courses. Partner with other Learning Department staff to coordinate support for all facilitators through regional volunteer learning Home Team meetings.

Partner with other Learning Department staff and regional volunteer Home Team coordinators to develop, maintain and update the yearly class schedule.

Using evaluations and other assessment tools, work with the VP of Learning and the Senior Learning Manager and camp staff to provide on-going development, revision and/or updating of standardized curriculum. Ensure courses are consistent with the learning expectations of GSUSA and certification entities, e.g. American Red Cross and American Camp Association.

Work with volunteer facilitators, and relevant outside collaborators to develop and implement courses that will certify leaders and other interested volunteers in advanced outdoor skills and high adventure that utilize Girl Scouts of Western Washington sites and other western Washington outdoor resources.

Work with other Learning Department staff to develop, manage and evaluate departmental goals, projects and budgets.

Research, investigate and help develop up-to-date learning delivery strategies for volunteers and girls and timelines for implementation.

Support regional volunteer learning Home Teams and/or other group designed to communicate information and strengthen team work and skill sets.

Work with other Learning Department members to develop, manage and evaluate departmental goals, projects and budgets. Participate in all-staff meetings.

Other duties as assigned and approved by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
* AA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
* 2 years demonstrated success in volunteer support and management
* Demonstrated skills with development of curriculum in an informal education context
* Knowledge of, or demonstrated aptitude for, developing online curriculum for volunteers and older girls

* Strong preference for demonstrated success working in multi-cultural environments

* Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of volunteers, girls and staff
* Strong public speaking and writing skills with a customer service orientation
* Strong preference for knowledge of Adobe Captivate.
* Preference for fluency in both English and one or more other languages commonly spoken in Western Washington

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Demonstrated experience with cross-departmental teams and plan implementation

* Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality

* Proficient with Outlook and Word and familiar with Excel and Access, or other database program

* Available to work varied hours including some nights and weekends as necessary

* Valid Washington State driver’s license, proof of insurance, and the ability to fulfill travel requirements in a timely manner throughout western Washington

* Satisfactory results from criminal background search

* Obtain and maintain membership in Girl Scouts of the United States of America
