Puget Sound Energy is seeking part time interns for the Renewable Energy Center at the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility in Ellensburg, WA.

 

The Wild Horse Wind Facility is located 17 miles east of Ellensburg. The Renewable Energy Center sits in the center of an 11,000 acre wind facility, with 149 wind turbines and 500 kw of solar. This facility powers around 65,000 homes, and attracts 15,000-20,000 visitors a year.

 

Job Description:

  • Greet visitors to the facility and answer questions regarding wind and solar technology. Give presentations and tours to businesses, schools, and other groups who visit the center. Guide nature walks. Keep the visitor center clean, stocked, and set-up for conferences. Design and implement educational activities for school groups.
  • The facility is open 9:00 to 5:30, seven days a week, from April through November 15th.
  • Position is part time, 8-24 hours a week, 8 hours shifts. Must be available to work most weekends throughout the duration of the internship. Interns will also be expected to work some weekday hours, especially during the spring.
  • Students can also use this internship for credit.

 

Requirements:

  • College degree or student in pursuit of a degree.
  • A genuine interest in renewable energy.
  • Must be a quick learner, able to memorize and effectively communicate information pertaining to electricity, the environment, native plants and birds, and different forms of energy production.
  • Must have strong public speaking skills. Daily tours and presentations of up to an hour in length will be conducted throughout the day.
  • Must possess excellent people skills, be engaging and approachable, and willing to teach and converse with all visitors to Wild Horse.

This position is open from Jan 27th- Feb. 21st, and interviews will take place Feb. 24th- 26th. Training will take place March 28th, and the job begins April 1st. Must be able to attend mandatory First Aid training in the first two weeks of April.
