Good Morning All,
As we move into the spring YMCA Earth Service Corps is looking towards its annual Environmental Symposium. This event began in 1989 at the request of local high school students and teachers who had a desire to learn more about our community’s environmental issues. Since that time the Symposium has been held each year as a workshop based event that engages over 150 students in environmental education and empowers young people to return to their schools and address environmental issues through meaningful service.
I’m reaching out because we are looking to expand our workshop offerings at the 2016 Environmental Symposium and are actively seeking presenters and workshop proposals for the event. These 50 minute hands-on, engaging workshops are designed to educate and excite youth about the many environmental topics relevant to our community. Previous workshop proposals have included Pacific Northwest ecology, Puget Sound water quality, urban birding, composting, habitat restoration, green architecture, climate change, youth advocacy, wildlife tracking, urban gardening and more.
If you are interested in presenting to 25 excited teens and tabling for 150 student leaders please look over the Workshop Proposal Form. The deadline for submitting a workshop proposal is February 7th and final selections will be made by our Youth Leadership Council. If you know others in your organization or within your networks who would be interested in presenting at this event please feel free to share this information as we welcome the opportunity to hear from others.
