1000 Friends of Oregon, Portland, Oregon
Closes: Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

Our mission includes working with Oregonians to enhance our quality of life by building livable urban and rural communities, protecting family farms and forests, and conserving natural areas. The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for our programs managing the Regional Equity Atlas transition and Land Use Leadership Initiative, both of which further our mission of working with Oregonians for a better future.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for delivering 1000 Friends of Oregon’s community capacity building and engagement programs, including the Land Use Leadership Initiative and managing the Regional Equity Atlas and its partnership.

The Coordinator will train emerging leaders from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and experiences who are often underrepresented in Oregon’s land use program, both to inform their own professional and personal endeavors and to improve the land use program through those experiences. The LULI program focuses on strategies and approaches that advance equitable climate action throughout the Portland Metro region. In recent years LULI participants have effectively advocated for the adoption of the Portland Metropolitan Area’s Climate Smart Strategy. The 2016 cohort will advocate for the use and implementation of Climate Smart, with a focus on the SW Corridor Plan in suburban jurisdictions in the region.
