ORGANIZATION: YWCA Olympia POSITION TITLE: Wage Equity Initiative Coordinator

YWCA MISSION: The YWCA of Olympia strives to eliminate racism and sexism to advance the political, social and economic status of all women and girls.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Wage Equity Initiative (WEI) Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of WEI, which encourages employers to adopt one or more of 33 identified policies and processes that have proven to advance racial and gender equity in the workplace. The WEI Coordinator will support public awareness activities, market to and secure businesses to join WEI, provide individualized coaching, technical assistance and group learning opportunities to support the success of WEI members, oversee WEI incentive packages, assess individual and collective impact of WEI members, and secure foundation or corporate sponsorship to support the initiative.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Public Awareness:
• Coordinate the official launch of WEI on Pay Equity Day (Tuesday, April 12, 2016)
• Coordinate WEI promotional materials, press releases, press conferences, town hall discussions, community events (movie screenings, possible trivia night, etc.) and other activities that generate awareness of WEI and support increased awareness about wage equity issues in Thurston County
• Market WEI to potential business partners. Facilitate individual or group meetings to discuss the initiative and secure partners.
• Participate in YWCA’s Advocacy Committee Technical Assistance • Provide individualized coaching to WEI members to ensure the successful implementation of new policies or processes
• Coordinate and facilitate group learning opportunities (webinars, lunch-and-learn meetings, etc.) to discuss relevant policies and processes related to a theme (for example, flexible work options). Support community building among WEI members by highlighting local success stories and matching businesses that want to learn from colleagues.
• Manage WEI incentive program to support and encourage WEI members Fundraising
• Secure corporate or foundation funding to support the activities of Wage Equity Initiate
QUALIFICATIONS:
• The successful candidate has superior organizational skills, is self-motivated, resourceful, detail oriented, and energetic.
• Must be a team player and have outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record of implementing business policies and processes that prioritize equity
• Experience coaching in human resources and/or organizational development preferred
• An understanding of interpersonal and systemic bias as related to wage inequity
• The ability to establish long-term relationships with community based organizations, local businesses and state agencies
• Strong background in public awareness and marketing
• 2+ years of experience in special events coordination and fundraising strongly preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication as well as the ability to prioritize, delegate and support multiple projects are essential.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be a quick study on new computer programs; database experience strongly preferred
• All employees must submit a criminal background check, possess a valid WA driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

HOURS: The Wage Equity Coordinator is a part-time 20-hour per week position. Flexible work schedule options are provided. Attendance will be required at occasional Friday, evening and/or weekend events
RATE OF PAY/BENEFITS: This is a part-time position with an hourly pay rate of $15 – $16 per hour; a pro-rated benefit stipend is also provided
