The Pacific Ranger District is looking for two interns to work in support of the recreation program in the popular Crystal Basin Recreation Area. Interns would work with other FS staff to provide visitor information at Crystal Basin Information Station, patrol campgrounds and dispersed camping areas, assist with cleaning and maintenance of facilities, and will assist in education and interpretive programs. This internship will provide a great opportunity to gain experience in a variety of aspects of recreation management

Duty station would be primarily at the Crystal Basin Information Station on the Eldorado National Forest.
Access to grocery shopping, post office and other needs is 45 minute drive from the station.
Interns would work with Forest recreation staff to learn about the area. Intern provided opportunity to shadow
other areas. Standard training for field going activities, such as radio use and field travel safety, will be provided.
Mountain Biking, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, rafting, boating are all popular activities in the area. Folsom Lake
College is within driving distance.

Grocery store is not within walking distance from barracks. Interns without personal vehicle would have to arrange their own transportation for obtaining groceries and for weekend activities. Own vehicle may be required for work.
Housing or Stipend Provided?

Housing will be in a government barracks. Intern may share a room with another employee of the same gender. Barracks house may have up to 7 other individuals sharing kitchen, dining, and bathroom facilities. Bathrooms are gender specific. Barracks have basic furnishings but intern will need to bring linens, personal items, and food.
