Job Description:
Our mission is “to prepare children for lifelong learning success through deep personal connections with the rich cultural and natural histories of the Olympic Peninsula.”
You will be an integral part of our education team, and will provide curriculum planning and teaching support for permanent staff members: you will not just watch, you will teach every day! We will be able to pay you a small stipend, and help you find affordable room and board.
We follow the city school calendar and will be outside every day, rain or shine, with access to a historical cabin with a fireplace, kitchen, and restrooms. We will also hold regular classes at a local community garden, urban farm, and outdoor sculpture park. We will take frequent field trips to the cultural and natural oases of our region.
Experience with both environmental education and early childhood education a plus, but we welcome current or former students from either field and other related areas of study.
Requirements:
- Current First Aid/CPR certifications (WFA or WFR a plus!)
- Some teaching / lesson planning / assessment experience
- Creativity, humor, empathy, waterproof-ness (it rains quite a bit here!)
Highly desired but not necessary: Web design, maintenance and digital media experience a plus. We will also need help updating our social media accounts and keeping in touch with parents.
