Responsibilities
The Forester coordinates, administers and assists the log procurement department in forest operations such as tree marking, timber cruising, land clearing, site preparation and road and bridge maintenance. May make purchase recommendations of stumpage for raw material supply. May supervise activities of logging contractors.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field. Two to five years’ experience preferred. Past experience timber cruising is preferred. Work environment includes both office and field operations. Strong commitment to working safely and promoting cooperative and effective team results. Technically competent with all data tools including compass, data recorders, GPS units and software, basic spreadsheet analysis, electronic mail, and wood procurement system. Must possess excellent organizational skills, effectively prioritize, and complete accurate and timely reports. Must be able to track budgets compared to expenditures and possess effective negotiating skills.
