2018 NOAA Sea Grant National Aquaculture Initiative
Apply for projects to support expansion of U.S. marine and coastal aquaculture through Washington Sea Grant
Important Date Proposal deadline: March 2, 2018, 5:00 p.m. PST
NOAA Sea Grant expects to make $7 – 11.5 million available in fiscal years 2018 through 2020 for awards of up to $750,000 to support the Sea Grant National Aquaculture Initiative. Individuals; academic, research and education institutions; public or private corporations, partnerships or other associations or entities; and state agencies and political subdivisions and tribal governments, agencies and officers throughout the State of Washington are eligible to apply. Those interested in this competition are strongly encouraged to contact WSG Director Penny Dalton (pdalton@uw.edu) by February 2, 2018 or as early as possible.
Successful projects will:
- Use a team approach, integrating at least one Sea Grant program and one end-user or public-private partnership.
- Involve Sea Grant outreach personnel and include a technology component.
- Allow application of project impacts to a broader geographic region.
- Explain how completed work will increase aquaculture production or stimulate nascent aquaculture industries.
- Clearly address major constraints, barriers or hurdles limiting U.S. aquaculture production.
National Aquaculture Initiative priorities include:
- Support for development of emerging systems or technologies to advance U.S. aquaculture.
- Improve public communication of accurate, science-based messages and information about the benefits and risks of U.S. aquaculture.
- Increase resiliency of aquaculture systems to natural hazards and changing conditions.
Applications must be made to Washington Sea Grant (WSG) via eSeaGrant, the WSG online proposal information system, and WSG will complete the submission to NOAA. More information is available on the WSG website.
