We are now accepting applications for the Noosphere Award, which provides grant support for faculty-student collaborative projects. Up to $1900 is available for award in 2018. Successful proposals might include creative projects, research, performance, lecture series, workshops, and more. Projects may take place during any time frame within spring, summer, and fall quarters of 2018.
The deadline for proposals is February 16, 2018 at 5 pm.
Proposals must demonstrate a connection to the concept of the noosphere, a term jointly introduced in the early 1920’s by Russian geologist Vladimir I. Vernadsky, French theologian-philosopher-geologist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and French mathematician Eduard LeRoy. It refers to that part of the world of life that is created by human thought and culture, arising from, but distinct from, the geosphere and biosphere.
