Job Description:
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT), a system of nearly 200 miles of single track that sees over 400,000 users each year. The TRTA is dedicated to preserving and protecting the trail and growing the next generation of trail stewards. The organization has a small staff and a dedicated board. It is based out of Stateline, NV near beautiful Lake Tahoe.
The Position
The Youth Programs Manager (YPM) is the lead staff member responsible for implementing the TRTA’s growing youth programs. This unique position includes both office-based work and intensive field time. That means that we are looking for just the right person who can switch easily between tasks such as writing grants and group forming with teens! The YPM will coordinate a summer schedule packed with weekly youth backpacking trips organized with the general public and partner social service organizations as well as coordinate service learning opportunities. The YPM will recruit participants, hire and train additional summer staff instructors, manage program gear, oversee contracts, create and track program budgets, and raise donations and write grants for youth programs. In addition, the YPM is a vital member of the TRTA staff and provides support for all of the TRTA’s various programs including coordinating the 165 Mile Club and monthly Trail Talk series. The position will be 95% office-based between October and May and 70% field-based between June and September including overnights and occasional weekend work.
Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates for this position will be responsible and reliable leaders with a proven track record implementing overnight youth programs. He/she will have the ability to effectively community orally and in writing with parents, partners, and donors; and also build rapport with youth. Additionally, experience working in an office setting, writing grants, and managing finances is essential.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full time, permanent position with a starting annual salary range of $33,000 – $38,000 based on experience.
