General Description

The Wilderness Society is seeking a full-time Campaign Manager for our Energy and Climate Program. This position will be based in Denver, Colorado.

This position will design and implement effective advocacy campaigns in the West to drive policy changes that protect our climate, air, land, and water. We are looking for someone who is highly collaborative, results-oriented and excels at building and maintaining diverse relationships to help meet near term goals and build long term power.

This position plays an important role in supporting an inclusive organizational culture that is grounded in trust and accountability to shared goals and outcomes. We advocate for federal policies that will disclose and reduce climate emissions and ensure our air, land, water and impacted communities are safeguarded from reckless energy development on our public lands.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•Develops and leads execution of strategies to meet campaign goals, working closely with campaign leadership, communications, and regional staff.

•Represents TWS in coalitions, cultivating strong relationships with partners and key influencers.

•Helps recruit, train and coordinate spokespeople and activists.

•Prepares and delivers presentations, webinars and media and issue trainings, working closely with communications staff.

•Manages contracts and grantees for advocacy and organizing work.

•Provides advocacy support for community groups and other key stakeholders.

•Organizes advocacy or educational events as needed.

•Develops and maintains close working relationships with select regional offices and other staff as needed.

•Assists with preparing progress reports.

•Works with Advocacy Director to create and enhance metrics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate success of events and campaign activities.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Experience, Competencies, and Education

•Minimum 5-7 years of experience in organizing, issue advocacy or a related field.

•Familiarity with the development and execution of campaigns.

•Demonstrated ability to function at a high level under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with many simultaneous moving pieces.

•Track record working successfully in teams representing a rich mix of talent, backgrounds, and perspectives—across race and gender.

Track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of stakeholders.

•Excellent written and public speaking skills, including ability to connect with a general audience.

•Familiarity with events planning.

•Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

•Experience working on western public lands and/or climate issues a plus.
