The Toxics Cleanup Program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Senior Planner (Environmental Planner 4) position. This position is located in our Northwest Regional Office in Bellevue, WA.
The Senior Planner provides strategic and operational planning, leadership, and services to the TCP NWRO including section performance measurement. Utilizes budget, workforce and site management databases to prepare section plans and other strategic documents. Coordinates and serves as a liaison with local government applicants of TCPs Remedial Action Grant Program.
We are looking for applicants who are detail oriented, organized, tech savvy and possess good problem solving skills.

Some of the Key work activities include:
- Coordinates and is a liaison with local governments who are applicants of TCPs Remedial Action Grant Program.
- Designs, analyzes, and interprets data reports that are used for section and program planning, cleanup prioritization, determining staffing levels, budgetary decision making, and reporting for legislative requirements.
- Coordinates section tracking/mapping in order to: demonstrate connection of section work with Program Plan, demonstrate connection of section work with Agency Strategic Plan, report performance measurements, track status of site and contract funding sources.
- Maintains lists of needs (abandoned sites, Remedial Action Grants, abandoned leaking underground storage tanks, etc.).
- Works with the Section Manager to review performance data and trends.
- Represents the section when asked to work with program and agency staff on committees and work groups.
- Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) cleanup requirements and process, and the state budget process.
- Writes or edits pieces for section, program, agency, or legislative publications.
- Reviews correspondence for clarity and plain language.
- Reviews legal and technical documents.
- Uses GIS to produce maps for tracking, reporting, and communications.
- Prepares PowerPoint presentations for the Section Manager, and gives presentations.
- Creates brochures or other outreach materials for tracking, reporting, and communications.
