ERM is seeking a motivated Staff Environmental Geologist or Hydrogeologist, who is interested in participating on a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services, to join our consulting firm in the Philadelphia, PA area (office in Malvern, PA). In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers primarily on site investigation and remediation projects. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for performing environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, hydrogeologic analyses, contaminant fate and transport analyses, and for managing subcontractors and preparing environmental reports. The candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and must possess the ability to work with project teams on complex and time-critical projects. The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist with projects across ERM’s broad array of EHS services (e.g., EHS compliance, air quality, contaminated site management, sustainability reporting, air/water modeling, site permitting, auditing, due diligence transaction projects, water resource management, stakeholder engagement). RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling at project sites.
- Conduct other fieldwork, including soil boring and well installation oversight, aquifer testing, remedial pilot tests, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
- Compile and evaluate data, perform geological and hydrogeological analyses, and assist in report preparation.
- Perform Phase I and II environmental site assessments to support property transfer transactions.
- Assist in report preparation.
- Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
- Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during office and field activities.
- Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively manage projects.
- Perform work in other ERM service areas as needed such as:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, air quality management, site investigation and remediation, and due diligence transaction projects.
- Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, and wastewater programs.
- Perform environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct air quality analyses, prepare emission inventory reports, quantify air pollutant emissions and impacts, and evaluate air pollution control technologies.
- Conduct fieldwork including ecological field studies, remedial pilot tests, construction oversight, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
- Provide general environmental compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related environmental science; Master degree and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus.
- Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
- Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.
- Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on trouble-shooting/problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- HAZWOPER certifications a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
