About the Department:
The Department of Biological Sciences emphasizes cell and molecular biology, ecology, and evolutionary biology. Biological Sciences maintains one of the largest undergraduate majors in the university. Special topics courses, interdisciplinary graduate programs and undergraduate research opportunities expose students to a rigorous background in basic and advanced biology and allow for specialized coursework.
Summary of Job Duties
The Evans-White Laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a 12-month Postdoctoral Fellow in Freshwater Ecology, beginning in February 2019. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations in the laboratory including mentoring of several undergraduate and graduate students and will help coordinate a summer Research Experience for Undergraduates Program. This position will also organize field and laboratory studies, analyze results, and prepare and review reports, manuscripts, and presentations for scientific conferences.
The initial appointment is for one-year, renewable based upon the need for the position, availability of funding, and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role.

Ph.D. in biology, natural resources, environmental sciences, ecology, or a related field conferred by the start of employment
Demonstrated research productivity in freshwater ecology
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ecological and biological stoichiometry theory
Demonstrated familiarity with aquatic invertebrate taxonomy and genetic techniques, such as DNA barcoding
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of ecological genetic approaches
Knowledge of computer coding in R
