The Summit Environmental Education Center at Haw River State Park is the only residential environmental education program in the NC State Park system! The Summit is an outdoor education center located at Haw River State Park, in beautiful Browns Summit, near Greensboro, NC. We’re seeking dedicated, creative, fun outdoor enthusiasts with high-energy to become Summit Instructors. Summit Instructors work with children ages 7 to 18 years old. They also facilitate adult groups through teambuilding activities. The Summit offers programming ranging from 1-day experiences up to 3-day/2 night residential stays. Our “classrooms” include several hundred wooded acres, pristine wetlands, a 6-acre lake, and the headwaters of the Haw River. Why work here instead of another outdoor education center? The Summit is determined to create and maintain the highest standards within the field of environmental education and offers staff training and professional development throughout the year. You will gain outdoor education experience in Piedmont Wildlife, Animal Adaptations, Wilderness Survival, Orienteering, Teambuilding, Soils and Wetlands Ecology. The position is a seasonal position with the NC State Park system. A four-year degree is required.
Start Date is early February – ending November 25th, 2019, with the possibility of re-hire in February 2020. There will be a two or three-week non-paid summer break during the month of July. Your employment will include: salary of $10/hr with housing/utlities for only $30 a month if interested.
