THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES AND STUDIES PROGRAM AT STONEHILL COLLEGE invites applications for a one-year Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow position to begin July 1, 2019.
The environmental program is growing rapidly and currently serves appx. 80 majors & minors. We are particularly committed to experiential learning, including undergraduate research and community-based learning, and to fostering diversity among faculty and students. We collaborate closely with our campus farm that grows organic produce for local donation, and regularly offer travel & field courses. Class sizes are small, routinely capped at 24 students per class. In addition to serving our majors and minors, we contribute significantly to the general education curriculum.
We welcome applications from those in the geosciences, environmental social sciences or environmental humanities. Qualifications include a disciplinary or interdisciplinary Ph.D. in an environmental area. Ability to teach physical geology, GIS, environmental justice or environmental health are of particular interest. Evidence of successful undergraduate teaching is desirable.
The successful candidate will teach two sections of general education, interdisciplinary environmental science in the fall and three courses in the spring. The spring courses would depend upon the interests and expertise of the successful candidate, but may include environmental science, environmental ethics, and a course in the successful candidate’s specialty. Mentoring undergraduates in research is encouraged, but not required.
