January 2019

Are you committed to helping improve water quality, fish and wildlife habitat in our region? Do you want to see greater community partnerships and environmental and economic equity in greater Portland? You can help by joining Metro?s restoration and community stewardship grants<https://www.oregonmetro.gov/tools-partners/grants-and-resources/nature-neighborhoods-grants/nature-neighborhoods-restoration> review committee.

On the committee, you?ll help to recommend up to up to $700,000 in restoration and community stewardship grants to community organizations and groups seeking to support and create partnerships across greater Portland.

Grant recipients have planted native species at Ross Island, improved water quality and amphibian habitat in Willow Creek, and restored habitat at the Sandy River Delta for fish, migrating birds and turtles all while engaging local residents in being stewards of their local natural areas. Other grant recipients have transformed the M&M Marketplace<https://www.oregonmetro.gov/news/grant-depave-transforms-parking-lot-mm-marketplace-greener-urban-plaza>?s parking lot from gray to green by rain garden creation, and native plant installation and creating a diverse conservation leadership program<https://www.oregonmetro.gov/news/momentum-alliance-and-northwest-youth-corps-offer-nature-jobs-education-young-people> for youth interns. Metro grants expand partnerships to inspire new approaches to restoration, including economic and environmental equity. The parks and nature grants team hopes to create a diverse committee whose members come with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds.

Grant applicants are eligible to serve on the review committee and will be required to disclose any conflicts of interest.

To apply for the restoration and community stewardship grant review team, please briefly explain why you are interested in participating in the review committee and attach a resume which details your background and experience in an email to the grant coordinator, Crista Gardner, crista.gardner@oregonmetro.gov<mailto:crista.gardner@oregonmetro.gov>.  Detailed instructions are available at the restoration and community stewardship grants<https://www.oregonmetro.gov/tools-partners/grants-and-resources/nature-neighborhoods-grants/nature-neighborhoods-restoration> website.
