The key role of the Volunteer and Special Event Coordinator will be to develop and maintain a citywide volunteer program as the liaison between volunteers and staff, interface with local businesses and organizations in volunteer recruitment and recognition. The position will be responsible for maintaining partnerships with community organizations, managing youth, student, and adult volunteer programs; providing education, safety and technical training to volunteers; as well as residents and businesses with community engagement and volunteerism opportunities. The position will also manage community outreach, and provide support to our environmental restoration and stewardship projects/programs on City-owned lands. Finally, in support of special events, the position will interface with internal City Departments, external government agencies and private applicants to coordinate and process all applications for medium and large community events and festivals.
