DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The forester assists the District Forester in the management, administration, and coordination of recreational activities and infrastructure and acts as the liason between recreational groups and organizations and the Forest District. Duties include providing forest resource management recommendations to the District Forester and implementing timber harvesting projects, regeneration projects, and annual evaluations of State Forest lands; assisting with wildland fire suppression and prevention; and participating in assigned positions on prescribed fires on Commonwealth and Cooperator’s lands.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
- PA residency currently waived for this title
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements – Two years of technical forestry experience, and an associate’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; OR a bachelor’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem Management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; OR a master’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree.
- Necessary Special Requirement – possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
