Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Coordinator works collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff, and students to develop, coordinate, and promote effective sustainability initiatives to reduce the University’s impact on the environment. Responsibilities include coordinating campus programming and activities related to sustainability; tracking, analyzing and reporting annual energy/utility usage; assist management in setting targets for energy reduction; assist EHS Director in delivering utility performance updates; work with management team to create a prioritized list of needs for sustainability projects (utility usage, recycling, shredding, gardens, community outreach); assist in developing work schedules for student employees; assist with accounting/budgeting tasks, including purchase orders, requisitions and budget tracking; maintaining department websites and social media accounts; submit timely reports and prepare presentations/proposals as assigned; perform other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with strong skills in Excel and Access (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Powerpoint); strong skills in using spreadsheets and databases; experience and proficient in statistical analysis and data management with a minimum of a one college level course in statistics; ability to troubleshoot technical issues on own; self-motivated team player with a positive attitude; excellent prioritization and organizational skills: strong written and verbal communication skills; accurate with strong attention to detail; dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree; two years of professional work experience in sustainability, resource/energy conservation, recycling, or related field; solid fund of knowledge of current Marshall University sustainability programs and processes; possess in depth understanding of statistical analysis and data management; willingness to adhere to the University’s core values; possess excellent interaction and communication skills (verbal and written); have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus an community; demonstrated professional manner with all internal and external University constituencies; ability to be flexible, adjust to fluctuating priorities, and produce reliable work product.
