Development & Operations Manager

Earth Ministry is seeking a Development & Operations Manager to be responsible for database management, fundraising, and organizational support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Database Management (25%)

  • Oversee use of EveryAction database:
    • Maintain data for program, administrative, and development activities
    • Generate lists, reports, and forms
    • Solve database issues and work with consultants as needed
  • Prepare and send mass emails, including monthly events digest
  • Process donations in EveryAction and generate donor acknowledgments in a timely manner
  • Train and support other database users and oversee database projects of interns and volunteers

Development (50%)

  • Coordinate writing and distribution of appeal letters and other donor communications
  • Assist with preparation for and participate in donor meetings and appropriate follow up
  • Manage recurring gift payments and follow up with donors
  • Prepare bank deposits, print deposit and credit card transaction reports, and deliver to Bookkeeper
  • Lead implementation of annual spring fundraiser and other minor development events throughout the year: recruit and orient volunteers, secure and communicate with vendors, coordinate venue logistics, manage registration, solicit donations, manage staff team
  • Facilitate strong board participation in fundraising efforts and serve as liaison to development committee
  • Submit annual paperwork for state charitable organization registration and workplace giving programs

Operations (25%)

  • Manage maintenance and updates of organization’s WordPress website and social media accounts
  • Answer phones, route/respond to general emails, and oversee admin responsibilities of interns/volunteers
  • Assist with upcoming office move
  • Maintain a record of administrative procedures, order office supplies, and manage office machines including coordinating with IT service providers and other vendors
  • Work collaboratively within a small staff and take on other duties as necessary

Requirements:

  • Commitment to our faith-based mission and values of stewardship, community, collaboration, and justice
  • Two or more years of experience in an administrative or development capacity with a non-profit
  • Strong experience using a CRM database
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and love of creative problem solving on a small yet mighty non-profit team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Desired:

  • Experience working with communities of color and an understanding of environmental injustice and systemic oppression
  • Experience with EveryAction/NGP VAN CRM database
  • Basic HTML skills
  • Experience making one-on-one fundraising asks or willingness to learn

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time position paying $36,000-$40,000 DOE with full coverage health insurance. We provide generous time off: 10 paid holidays, 20 days vacation, and sick leave. Typical schedule is 9am-5pm Monday through Friday but some evening and weekend hours will be necessary during peak times. A flexible, family-friendly schedule can be negotiated during regular work weeks.

Hiring process and timeline: Phone interviews will be scheduled in early February with in-person interviews to follow for selected candidates. If you are invited for an in-person interview, we will ask for two writing samples relevant to this position. Finalists may be asked to participate in a second in-person interview, with the selected candidate to join the staff in March.
