THE TULALIP TRIBES
Job Title: Environmental Scientist
Department: Natural and Cultural Resources, Treaty Rights Office
Job Summary: Support the Tulalip Tribes through the Treaty Rights Office on a wide array of natural and cultural resource issues of concern to the Tribe. Analyze impacts of proposed projects to the Tulalip’s off reservation treaty-reserved rights and other cultural rights, and formulate written responses and/or recommendations, and oral presentations to address them. Advocate for tribal treaty rights and collaborate with other tribal departments, state and federal agency representatives, non-governmental organizations, and state and federal legislative bodies, in order to create and execute programs and policies. Help to organize and/or represent the Tulalip Tribes on relevant technical or policy-related forums. Assume additional responsibilities and perform other duties as directed. The Environmental Scientist is expected to work well independently and cooperatively, and on a wide array of projects and subject matter under the guidance and direction of the Senior Environmental Policy Analyst.
Compensation: $29.47 *Applicant may be offered more depending on experience.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Policy or Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, Native Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Conservation Biology, or other relevant natural or social science fields.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Conservation Biology, Natural Resources Management or Policy, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Native Environmental Science, or related natural or social science field. *A Master’s degree will substitute for three (3) years’ experience.
Prerequisites:
- Must have and maintain a valid WA State Driver’s License and must adhere to the Tribal Insurance Policy (abstract copy)
- The Tulalip Tribes require different levels of pre-employment background screening for all positions. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of these background checks.
Terms of Employment: This is a regular Full-Time position requiring 40 hours per week or 2080 hours per year.
