Tetra Tech, Inc., is currently seeking a Project Manager/Environmental Planner to support our growing energy practice from our Denver, CO, Boston MA, or Minneapolis, MN. Our energy practice includes fossil fuel, wind, solar and electric power generation, transmission lines and substations, natural gas transmission pipelines (FERC and non-FERC regulated), compressor stations, and other energy related facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A key function of this role involves direct interaction with clients, and with other Tetra Tech Program, Project Managers and technical disciplines within Tetra Tech
The applicant’s primary responsibilities will be to lead regulatory and permitting activities in support of Energy Program Managers for a variety of energy infrastructure development projects
The successful applicant will lead and assist in the preparation of county, state and federal land use permit applications, lead and support the development of environmental studies and resource analysis, and consult with county, state, and federal governmental bodies and agencies
Will lead proposal development, development of scopes of work and costing efforts related to energy infrastructure siting and permitting. Will also lead energy facility siting, field surveys, task coordination, public outreach, as well as budget and project tracking
This candidate will conduct permitting and resource studies associated with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Public Service Commissions (PSC) and/or Public Utility Commissions (PUC)
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION:
Possess a B.S. or M.S. in a related field (i.e., planning, environmental studies, or a closely related discipline)
Possess 5-7 years of professional experience. This experience should include wind and/or solar power generation, electric transmission and natural gas transmission siting and permitting experience
5-7 years’ experience with environmental and regulatory processes – federal, state and local regulators such as PUC, PSC, FERC, BLM, USFS, USFWS, COE, and NEPA
Exhibit solid, practical skills in Microsoft Office applications (spreadsheet (Excel), word processing (Word), scheduling (Project))
This role will involve the input and task management of numerous environmental and human resources including regulatory reviews and preparation of local, state and federal permit applications, resource analysis, corridor identification, route refinement, agency consultation, and public outreach
The ability to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team are important characteristics for this position
Must be able to research and interpret federal, state and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies
Must be able to coordinate and lead the preparation of proposals, environmental reports and permit applications through collection, management and analysis of environmental data and information
Technical inquisitiveness, a positive attitude, and an ability to work well in teams are essential
Business development and client service management skills with a proven track record of developing project opportunities and maintaining successful client relationships; strong existing client relationships and professional contacts are highly desirable
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills and attention to detail
This Project Manager/Environmental Planner will have demonstrated writing abilities, organizational skills, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office)
Possess the ability to act independently with project and task management roles and a proven commitment to quality management, continuous improvement and client satisfaction
Willingness and ability to travel is also anticipated
