Responsibilities:Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management, the incumbent facilitates the development and implementation of sustainable initiatives and practices for the campus community. Specific duties include: provides leadership and organizational strategy in collaboration with key facilities, administrative and academic leaders across the university to ensure UMBC achieves its sustainability goals; works with university leadership to develop and implement sustainability initiatives and programs that reduce environmental impacts, improve efficiency of the university’s operations, preserve natural resources and promotes conservation-based behavior; increases environmental awareness; engages students in experiential learning opportunities; and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of progressive experience in planning and implementing sustainability programs for a large, complex organization.
- Must have advanced skills in data analytics, assessing sustainability programs and cost benefit analysis.
- Must be able to make sound decisions and apply professional knowledge and expertise in sustainability using original and innovative approaches and techniques to solve complex non-routine problems.
- Valid class “C” driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree is preferred
- Higher education experience desired
- ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional
- LEED Accredited Professional
