Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Manager of the FAS Green Program, a partnership between OFS and FAS, this Sustainability Manager is an integral member of the FAS team.  The position will be responsible for initiating, implementing, and continually improving cutting-edge sustainability programs at FAS in coordination with the FAS Green Program team, the FAS Office of Physical Resources & Planning (OPRP), OFS, FAS senior leadership and faculty members. The Manager work on a robust initiative aimed at achieving University-wide goals, standards and commitments for the FAS campus.

The Manager will work with members of the FAS and University community to drive creation and implementation of initiatives and projects at FAS, a community of diverse, multi-component sectors including offices, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, residential, athletic facilities, IT and museums.  To accomplish this, the Manager develops and executes comprehensive project plans, reviews building plans, proposes innovative ideas, and strengthens and creates relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including faculty, researchers, senior leaders, building managers, staff and students, and leverages best practices in change management. The Manager will be responsible for envisioning and executing policies, programs, tools, and resources aimed at building a culture of sustainability on campus, identifying and developing living lab opportunities and improving building efficiency in coordination with the staff, students and faculty. This role will focus on opportunities for projects related to labs, academic/administrative buildings and residential buildings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in successful project plan development, management & implementation and progressive University administration management.

Additional Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of sustainability industry trends.
  • Excellent relationship building, interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to think critically, solve problems and conduct research and analysis.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Possess creativity, enthusiasm, high energy and adaptability to initiate new creative ideas and deliver results in constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of higher education/universities preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education/universities and with faculty and students preferred.
  • Requires some work outside of normal business hours (including but not limited to faculty and student meetings and events).

Technology Skills Required: 
Proficiency in MS Office suite. An ability to learn Harvard systems and web software quickly is a requirement.  Proficiency in Photoshop or other design software is a plus.
