The role
With a focus on region wide collaboration and growth, Cardno is excited to commence recruitment of the newly created role of National Water & Environment Business Manager. This presents a unique opportunity for an innovative professional in the Environmental Science or Water Resources Engineering sector to lead our established Water & Environment teams across Australia with the flexibility to be based out of Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
The multidisciplinary team, known for their excellence, comprises engineers and scientists delivering environmental and water assessments as well as management projects encompassing the specialist services of hydrology and drainage, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, ports and maritime, land contamination and remediation, coastal management, bushfire and sustainability. Collaboration a the range of disciplines across the broader Cardno group is also key to servicing our client’s needs. This is a fantastic prospect for someone with outstanding leadership capabilities, commercial acumen and business growth focus.
Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing a region wide strategy for the newly combined national Water & Environment group
- Providing leadership and direction that delivers high performance in an environment of cooperation and collaboration
- Motivating, mentoring, recruiting and managing staff
- Fostering client relationships and promoting the Cardno brand
- Ensuring project solutions deliver value for our clients, are innovative, timely and maintain Cardno’s high professional standard
- Contributing to Asia Pacific (APAC) regional strategic planning
- Identifying and capitalise on opportunities for new business with the support of local business leaders
- Be a Cardno Ambassador by actively promoting the company, attending and/or presenting at industry events
About you
To be successful you will have:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in the water and/or environment sector
- Demonstrated experience in leading large, geographically diverse teams in a collaborative and cohesive way
- Demonstrated successes in developing and implementing business growth strategies
- Registration within Profession (e.g. CPEng, CEnvP or RPEQ) or eligibility for corporate membership
- A strong understanding of commercial concepts to develop and deliver short- and long-range business goals
- Knowledge of HESQ systems and the importance of risk management
- Knowledge and understanding of the importance of staff career development, review processes and training
- Ability to successfully manage the business commercials and finances, including projections and cash flows
- Demonstrated ability to foster trusted long-term business relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders for mutual benefit
