–INTERN TRANSPORTATION PLANNING DATA ANALYSIS –

Transportation Planning Data Analysis Intern:
Seattle Children’s award-winning Transportation & Sustainability Department is seeking a current (or recently graduated) graduate student to provide data and policy analysis support for a diverse set of programs, including the organization’s Guaranteed Ride Home and parking programs. Tasks of this summer internship include collecting and analyzing parking data, calculating the price elasticity of demand for parking, proposing improvements to the organization’s parking lot count technology, and other duties as assigned.

The intern will be embedded within the Transportation Planning & Programs team, which provides progressive employer transportation demand management programs for Seattle Children’s workforce in support of our mission to provide hope, care and cures to help every child live the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible.

• Become familiar with software programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office to analyze information and to create tables, presentations, and documentation to aid Transportation & Sustainability Department staff in making decisions.

Additional Internship Information:
• Start/End Dates: June through late September
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 40 hours/week
• Rate of Pay: $17.00 per hour

Desired Experience:
• Open to all graduate students enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited graduate program. Preferred Areas of Study: Public Administration, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Public Policy, Economics
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and oral communication as well as research skills
• Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace

Desired Qualifications:
• Interest in and familiarity with transportation planning and policy issues
• Experience with data collection and public outreach
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, SPSS, SQL
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Comfort learning new computer programs

Requirements

Education: Individual must be enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an accredited Masters program, preferably studying public policy, urban planning, transportation planning, urban design, engineering, or a related field.
