The Field Director acts as the supervisory field lead for cultural resource investigations, including surveys, testing, data recovery excavations, and technical reporting. Consideration will be given to strongly qualified candidates for permanent full time positions. North Wind pays a competitive wage with health and other benefits.

Qualifications | |||||||||||||
Master’s degree in Archaeology and minimum 2 years relevant field and writing experience, or Ph.D. with commensurate field and report writing experience. Preferred candidates will be permitted or permitable for work on federal, state, BLM and forest lands in one or more of the states of Idaho, Oregon, and Washington and for Utah, possession of PLPCO permit.
As fieldwork is an important part of the position, a level of fitness allowing significant physical exertion, such as walking up to 10 hours a day at a steady, measured pace over steep, rugged, or heavily wooded terrain, weather conditions that include outdoor heat /cold stress, wind, snow or rain. Ability to carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment; ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.; ability to professionally excavate, screen and document up to 1 cu meter per day; potential contact with poisonous plants, insects and animals. Individual must be able to conduct these tasks while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment. Fieldwork will require extended overnight travel.
