1) Salmon Docent Training 2019: Want to learn more about our local salmon? Become a Salmon Docent! If you’re a teacher, you can also earn clock hours through this training. Space is limited, so register here today. Registration is $15 before Sept. 15 and $20 after Sept. 15. Contact Amy Linhart (amy.linhart@wsu.edu) directly for information about scholarships and teacher clock hours.
- Day 1: Tuesday Oct. 22, 6-9pm; Topics: Salmon species, life cycle, and anatomy; Location: Olympic College, Bremerton
- Day 2: Wednesday Oct. 23, 6-9pm; Topics: Southern Resident Killer Whales, climate change, and local volunteer opportunities; Location: Kitsap Mall Community Room, Silverdale
- Day 3: Saturday Oct. 26, 9am-2pm; Field Day- Tour of Grovers Creek Hatchery and exploration of salmon habitat; Location: Grovers Creek Hatchery, Poulsbo
2) Forest Foto Expedition- Round 2: In this two and a half-hour guided expedition, local photographer John F. Williams of Salish Magazine will walk participants through some forest-based photographic challenges and some solutions. You’ll have a chance to try out some techniques for creating forest scenes that are visually alive. All photo skill levels are invited. Please leave your furry friends at home. After the expedition, participants will be invited to submit their best images, and selected photos will be chosen for an expedition gallery to be included in Salish Magazine.
