Want to be part of a team of passionate and resourceful organizers who are building power to resist attacks on the environment? Does the idea of working for clean air, clean water, and equitable environmental protection for all Washingtonians excite you? Come join our team!

Washington Conservation Voters (WCV) and Washington Environmental Council (WEC) are seeking a talented individual who wants to make a difference in local communities. Our Community Engagement & Campaign Interns will work as a team with our Field Organizers on targeted voter contact and volunteer recruitment. They are actively involved with WCV’s efforts to elect environmental champions to office. They will also support WEC’s issue programs with project management, advocacy, and mobilization opportunities. This position is based in Seattle but will also include occasional work in Snohomish and Whatcom counties; travel is expected and transportation will be provided. This internship will start the week of September 16th and run through December 13th, 2019 (12 weeks with the week of Thanksgiving 11/25 off). This is a great position for someone who is interested in building their skills around environmental activism and advocacy, state and local political races, and honing their outreach skills.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced internship that will involve up to two days a week of on-the ground campaign work through the general election on November 5th, 2019 then shift to cleaning up and distilling information in our databases and advocacy work. Someone who is excited about meeting with and talking to a lot of new people will find this work extremely rewarding. Interns will have weekly staff supervision meetings, training, professional development and networking opportunities.

Washington Environmental Council drives positive change to solve our state’s most pressing environmental challenges. For over 50 years, we have been at the forefront of environmental protection in the state, securing laws and policies that safeguard the health of our families and our environment.

Washington Conservation Voters is the statewide political voice for the environment. We work to elect environmentally responsible candidates to state and local offices. Working with allies in the community, we advocate for strong environmental policies and hold our elected officials accountable during the legislative session. Through our political work, we are strengthening laws that safeguard the health of our communities, the beauty of our state, and our economic future.

Our office is in a LEED-certified building in downtown Seattle with views of Elliott Bay, and we offer internship stipends, a transit pass, professional development and networking opportunities, and the chance to make a difference in Washington state. We are committed to a diverse, socially just, and welcoming work environment and youth, people of color, people with varying abilities, and people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are especially encouraged to apply. We seek to apply a social and racial justice lens to all of our work.
