Senior Planner – Historic Preservation
This position performs with considerable independence under the limited direction of the Community Development Director and/or Planning Supervisor and requires frequent contact with the City Council, boards and commissions, other City departments and divisions, County government, various agencies, and the public. The Senior Planner – Historic Preservation is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and implementing the activities of, and providing support to, the City’s Landmarks and Design Commission. This position will also be responsible for performing SEPA and critical area reviews, coordinating land use application review; formulation of long-range comprehensive plan amendments; land use and development policies; staffing support as needed for the Planning Commission and other boards; and, preparation of special studies. Prepares analysis of relevant facts and technical data, options for action, draft ordinances and documents designed to assist appointed and elected policy makers. Performs research and advanced planning studies; serves as lead for planning teams on assigned projects.
This is a full-time position scheduled for 8 hours/day, M-F. If regular City of Ellensburg employees covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Ellensburg and OPEIU apply by the internal closing date they will be given first consideration.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four year college or university in Planning, Geography, Historic Preservation, Architecture, or related field; and four years of increasingly responsible professional planning experience plus one year in a lead role of a professional historic preservation planning project; or equivalent combination of education and experience, or Master’s Degree (MA or MS) in historic preservation or urban planning.
