UCSRB Data Analyst Position

Background

The Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board (UCSRB – www.ucsrb.orgis a nonprofit organization that coordinates the implementation of the Upper Columbia Spring Chinook Salmon and Steelhead Recovery Plan. The UCSRB facilitates regional collaboration to understand and address the complexities that our communities face in the wake of three federally-listed salmonids. The UCSRB also engages in a conversation on the role of a healthy forest in creating healthy rivers and healthy communities. Facilitating active conversations in these forums, the UCSRB informs organizations, governments, tribes, industry, and other interests of our collective progress. In 2012, the UCSRB convened the North Central Washington Forest Health Collaborative to expand regional efforts to implement a ridgetop to rivers approach to salmon recovery. UCSRB Board members consist of a Commissioner from each Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan Counties, and representatives from both the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and the Yakama Nation.

This position plays a key role in the UCSRB team achieving organizational goals and objectives, implementing program initiatives and supporting a well-organized, fast-paced and professional office environment. The ideal candidate will work at times independently and, at other times, in close coordination with other team members to provide technical and analytical support to other staff, Board members, the Regional Technical Team and other partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Compile and evaluate project, and spatial and quantitative fish and habitat data to support planning and decision-making related to Recovery Plan implementation;

draft reports and technical documents;

manage contractor refinement of a distributed hydrology soil vegetation model and associated decision support tool;

coordinate meeting logistics and draft summaries of technical meetings and committees;

help maintain and support partner use of web-based tools and online databases, e.g. Snow2Flow, Salmon Recovery Portal; and

help manage habitat project information in online Salmon Recovery Portal, QA/QC records in the database, communicate with project sponsors to ensure correct information is uploaded, and export data as needed for reporting.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in fisheries, hydrology or related field and at least five years of related experience.

Proficient in the use all Microsoft Office applications and ArcGIS online.

Strong technical writing skills.

Ability to actively engage with other UCSRB team members and regional partners.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

This position is 30 – 40 hours/week with full benefits. The pay for this position is $25-32/hour based on experience. Position open until filled, first review of resumes on 10/25/2019.
