Lifelong is a non-profit community agency committed to empowering people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS and/or other chronic conditions to lead healthier lives. Chicken Soup Brigade (CSB), the food program of Lifelong, provides meals, bags of groceries, and nutritional counseling and education to people living with chronic medical conditions at nutritional risk.
The primary role of the Warehouse Supervisor is to lead the warehouse team in the planning and execution of Chicken Soup Brigade’s weekly food distribution for people living with HIV/AIDS or other life threatening illnesses or disabilities in King, Island and Snohomish Counties. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for organizing the safe and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of warehoused goods and maintaining adequate levels of inventory and product to meet the needs of the program. The position may also be involved in the transportation, distribution, and flow of client service delivery and distribution. The Warehouse Supervisor reports to the Senior Manager of CSB. This is a full-time, non-exempt, non-union, regular position.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Warehouse Management
Oversee production of weekly grocery bags—food ordering, bagging/assembly, quality control, and food safety. Coordinate and track grocery forecasts and trends, food order. Maintain and rotate inventory of warehouse, including refrigerators and freezers. Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of warehouse, including refrigerators and freezers. Overseeing the warehouse side of the food bank (pick-up centers) run by CSB. Sourcing culturally relevant and nutritionally sound food for the grocery program.
Staff Supervision
Participate in the development of new staff positions including recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new staff.
Oversees that staff receives relevant levels of ongoing training and are professional and responsive. Manage employee performance by providing clear and concise job expectations, training, and provide timely feedback to staff, including annual job performance evaluations. Create positive and collaborative team morale and culture. Enforce policies and procedures, mediate office conflicts and address client grievances in a timely manner. Create performance improvement plans, schedule corrective training support and consultation, and work with the HR department, as needed.
Volunteer Supervision and Retention
Work with the Volunteer department to promote Chicken Soup Brigade volunteer opportunities. Support recruitment and retention of volunteers through presentation of program information and coordination of volunteer appreciation events. Train and support staff to work with volunteers to ensure volunteer health and safety of labor while ensuring tasks are carried out in a timely manner. Provide guidance, offering coaching when appropriate or requested.
Facilities and Equipment
Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Safety Regulations
Create, maintain, and oversee temperature logs of all CSB freezers and refrigerators; Work with Lifelong Facilities team to ensure safety and functionality of work area; Work with pest control, plumbers, electricians, and other vendors on repairs as necessary. In the event of an emergency, serve as a contact for programmatic issues during off-hours.
Process Development and Improvement: Contribute to the process of creating, revising, and executing procedures to assure quality and efficiency of food distribution and transportation.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend team and all-staff meetings, trainings, fundraising, and appropriate community events. Build awareness and understanding of HIV. Work with staff and clients of diverse socio-economic, ethnic, lifestyle and sexual orientation backgrounds. Maintain strict professional boundaries and confidentiality. Maintain regular and reliable hours as negotiated with your supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Two or more years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and coordinate volunteers and staff.
- Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
- Experience with project planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Possess an understanding of professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel, Access and Word. Experience working with complex databases a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form.

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk up one flight of stairs.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License and a good driving record.
- Experience driving and/or maintaining large vehicles including cargo vans and box trucks is a plus.
