NOAA – Fisheries, Alaska Fisheries Science Center is recruiting a new Program Manager for our Midwater Assessment & Conservation Engineering (MACE) Program. The Program consists of ca. 15 permanent positions (including a second supervisor) assigned to midwater assessment and 3 permanent employees assigned to conservation engineering. The Program conducts extensive acoustic-trawl surveys in Alaska and is nationally and internationally recognized for accomplishments in the area of acoustic assessment of pelagic fish, creation and application of innovative acoustic, trawl, and optical technologies for applied science, innovation to reduce bycatch in commercial fishing and minimize impacts of mobile fishing gear on the seafloor. We seek an individual with strong leadership and science experience in the area of acoustic assessment of pelagic fish, an ability to mentor other scientists and foster teamwork, and the vision to enable the program to advance survey science and conservation engineering.
