*Compensation: *$16-$19/hr

 

*Benefits: *FTE equivalent of 40 hours of PTO + 9 holidays + 5 day year-end break

*Summary of Position:*

 

ECO Educators are the face of the organization. They provide a key connection between our schools, outdoor sites, and students. Educators help to create the educational setting and ambiance that helps students meaningfully engage with nature. They work closely with both the Elementary and Secondary Program Managers to understand our program?s parameters and specifics, from curriculum delivery to outdoor project management. The Educator in this position will have a schedule that varies each week, occasionally working state-wide to fill in during in-class and field-based programs. They will work in the school on a daily basis to maintain the safety of students, create an engaging and enjoyable outdoor experience for students, and deliver curriculum.

 

 

This position provides in school programming as an Educator for both the elementary and secondary team. As an ECO Educator, you will be able to gain a wide variety of knowledge and experience throughout the layers of our programming. This position has the potential to continue into the summer, as a member of the Summer Camp Educator Team. Camp runs in June and August and hours on site are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM -5:00 PM. ECO breaks for the month of July.

 

*Essential Functions: *

  • Collaborate with the Program Managers to deliver ECO programs in elementary and secondary schools and at our habitat enhancement sites
  • Assist with groups of 25 to 30 students both indoors and outdoors
  • Deliver ECO curriculum in elementary and secondary school settings
  • Deliver ECO curriculum at outdoor settings connected to service-learning projects
  • Prepare, set up, and clean up all teaching materials
  • Keep tools, supplies, and equipment organized
  • Bring engaging energy and enthusiasm to the curriculum, field sites, and schools
  • Create and maintain a safe and brave space for students? well-being
  • Maintain positive relationships with school, guardians, and community partners
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss programs, curriculum, and new ideas
  • Utilize Monday.com to view and be responsible for your calendar and schedule
  • Consistently begin each day prepared and on time
  • Have reliable transportation to sites
  • Build an environment of learning, inclusion, and fun!

 

*Desired Skills: *

  • 2+ years of teaching experience
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, independence, and a positive attitude
  • Enthusiasm for environmental education and environmental issues
  • Resourceful and problem-solver
  • Excellent communicator with people of all backgrounds
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Background knowledge in natural resources/ecology/gardening
  • Willingness to grow and evolve with the organization
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Knowledge of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and trauma-informed practice
  • Proficiency in Spanish
