Ross Strategic seeks a motivated, solutions-oriented individual to join our team. We seek a person who wants to work with public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and foundations. This work will advance climate policy and accelerate a transition to clean energy. We seek a person with knowledge of policies and strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This would include emissions in power systems, transportation, buildings, and/or industry. We are increasingly working with clients on climate change policy to reflect perspectives of equity and just transition. We value experience with program evaluation and strategic planning. That experience may be for public agencies, multilateral institutions, nonprofits, or philanthropies. In-depth technical skills or expertise is less important than the ability to learn quickly, synthesize information, think strategically, and communicate effectively across a wide range of policy areas and with a variety of clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 4+ years of applicable work experience in climate policy, clean energy, or related fields.
  • A working knowledge of climate and clean energy issues and emission reduction strategies across a range of sectors.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and/or local climate and energy policy.
  • Ability to work with and lead groups.
  • Ability to communicate about complex issues with wide-ranging audiences.
  • Excellent people, organizational, analytical, writing, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines on multiple and concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as in situations requiring self-direction and initiative.
  • Solid working knowledge of Office products (Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint).

Desired Qualifications

  • Second language fluency.
  • Experience conducting interviews in multicultural contexts or supporting multicultural working groups.
  • Experience writing or contributing to proposals in response to RFPs.

As a Climate and Clean Energy Associate, you would:

  • Work with or lead small teams supporting projects related to program design, evaluation, learning, and/or strategy for climate and clean energy programs.
  • Facilitate and support collaborative efforts between multiple governmental and non-governmental agencies and programs in-person, via webinar, and over the phone.
  • Prepare written products including reports, memos, syntheses, briefs, infographics, and other product types that are clear, accurate, audience-centric, and insightful.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and synthesize information into concise findings and recommendations for clients.
  • Communicate regularly and build relationships with clients.
  • Track multiple, complex, interrelated issues and processes.
  • Identify business opportunities for new work and lead or contribute to proposals, interviews, and other aspects of business development.

Salary range is $60,000K – $75,000K/year, depending on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefit package includes:
