Come join a dedicated team of professionals who are working to protect marine wildlife while also enhancing the capacity of the oceans to feed a growing world population. Oceana’s Field Team works in coastal states to stop the expansion of offshore drilling and seismic airgun blasting, reduce plastic pollution, put an end to the shark fin trade in the U.S., and promote responsible fishing practices. Our campaign organizer in Washington will initially focus on building support for our plastics campaign at the local and state level and replicating our winning model to stop the expansion of offshore oil and gas drilling activities by engaging municipalities and business leaders.
As a campaign organizer, you will work closely with other field staff and a team of professionals in Washington, DC to build on-the-ground support for fighting plastic pollution and expanded offshore drilling. Our Field Team is a dynamic and diverse group of passionate campaigners who lead efforts to influence policy-makers in their states and regions. We put a premium on collaborating with coalition partners, volunteers, and allies, and strive to inspire the public to take action in a challenging and often discouraging political environment. Applicants must be driven, organized, skilled at communicating effectively and persuasively, collaborative, adaptable and able to at manage complexity.
