Since 1971, Hopelink has served homeless and low-income families, children, seniors, and people with disabilities in the north and east King County, WA. With service centers in Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Shoreline, and Sno-Valley (Carnation), we are the largest nonprofit organization in the area. Hopelink programs and services focus on five key areas: food, financial assistance, housing & family development, adult education & employment, and transportation/mobility. Programs are aimed at helping people achieve stability, and helping them gain the skills and knowledge they need to exit poverty for good.

Summary:

Hopelink’s Mobility Management team empowers people to change their lives by facilitating access to the community. We do this by (1) providing travel education and resources to build awareness of existing transportation options; (2) supporting the coordination of special needs transportation through cross-sector collaborations; and (3) gathering data and needs assessment to recommend and implement improved services. We work to make it easier for all people to get around King County through innovative, collaborative problem solving.

The position provides staff support to key mobility management projects and initiatives and mobility coalitions as well as assists in the education and outreach of transportation resources. The Mobility Coordinator advocates for those who need transportation, facilitates discussion, teaches, connects, and partners with organizations to champion transportation solutions. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, self motivated, and posses an enterprising spirit and passion for making an impact in the local community.

Essential Functions:

(Note: Any one position may not include all of the functions nor do the listed functions include all tasks that may be found in positions of this class.)

· Provides staff support to the South King County Mobility Coalition and/or subcommittees, which includes but is not limited to planning and facilitating meetings, assisting with project implementation, member recruitment and engagement, developing needs assessments, and providing administrative support.

· Promotes access to transportation services, including integration and coordination of services. Increases awareness of and support for special needs transportation.

· Improves mobility for seniors, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and other special needs populations by fostering partnerships and managing mobility projects.

· Provides in-person training and transit training to groups of clients, utilizing language interpreters as needed.

· Distributes transportation materials such as brochures, schedules, and maps. Updates and revises program materials to meet targeted client and partner needs.

· Updates of coalition websites, writing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes, developing and distributing printed outreach materials, and frequent interpersonal communication with a diverse set of stakeholders.

· Assists with coalition recruitment to ensure a diverse and engaged membership including a broad array of human services agencies, transportation providers, and other stakeholders.

Ø Employee must report to work site during their scheduled hours, regardless of weather conditions or other emergencies.

Ø Manage own transportation needs in adverse weather, including possible limitations to public transportation options.

Ø Have a specific plan to address any other possible attendance barriers that arise during adverse weather and other emergencies, such as disrupted utilities or public services, road closures, school closures, etc.

 

Desired Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and/or military service.

· Strong leadership skills with a talent for building professional relationships and the ability to work collaboratively on projects.

· Skilled in effective action planning and project implementation.

· Skilled in event coordination and public speaking.

· Strong planning and organizational skills, with attention to detail.

· Experience collecting and analyzing data, defining problems, identifying potential solutions, developing implementation strategies, and evaluating outcomes.

· Experience working with diverse communities, preferably low-income, older adults, people with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, youth, and/or veterans.

· Exceptional communication skills, including familiarity with business writing, meeting facilitation, and presentations, with the ability to communicate effectively using tact, courtesy and good judgment.

· Proficiency with a personal computer and Microsoft Office software.

· Must be able to travel via personal vehicle to offsite work locations or meetings within the region on a regular basis.

· Experience with community outreach and marketing is helpful.

· Knowledge of passenger transportation services in King County and Puget Sound, including human service transportation desired but not required.

· Experience working with volunteers preferred.

· Experience with Mailchimp, O365 Suite, SurveyMonkey, and/or Salesforce a plus.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet in a cubicle work space.

 

Licenses, Certificates and other requirements:

· Travel as necessary within or outside of King County via automobile.

· A valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable personal transportation are required (travel expenses are reimbursed).

· Proof of personal automobile liability insurance.

· Must pass criminal background check through the Washington State Patrol.
