Responsibilities

As a Marine Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Provide a high degree of scientific rigor in the collection and review of data for the Northwest Fisheries Science Center Observer program.
  • Participate fully as a team member within the NWFSC Observer program debriefing/training team and assist as needed with observer or Fishery Resource Analysis and Monitoring (FRAM) survey duties at-sea aboard fishing or research vessels as directed.
  • Conduct official observer debriefings and regularly meet with and advise fishery observers on a range of topics, such as: proper sampling protocols, data issues, sampling advice, species identification and data entry.
  • Create training materials and lesson plans, and conduct training sessions for prospective and current fishery observers.
  • Create, organize, store and archive; data forms, manuals, training materials, and other documents supporting the NWFSC Observer program debriefing/training team.
