The Idaho Department of Water Resources is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual who is proficient at water-resource modeling, has proven hydrogeologic capabilities, demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills, and wants to have a positive impact on complex groundwater issues in Idaho.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate for this vacancy would have experience constructing numerical groundwater models, and calibrating models using automated parameter estimation software. The candidate should also have experience conducting technical groundwater resource studies, and communicating the methods and results via oral presentations and written technical documents. A demonstrated ability to write and edit computer scripts and programs is desired.
The Hydrogeologist, Technical position is the full working level of the Hydrogeologist classifications. If you do NOT meet the minimum qualifications for this position, please apply for the Hydrogeologist, Staff level position. The Department will hire the candidate that is the best fit for either the Technical or the Staff level classification.
Example of DutiesDuties:
- Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of hydrogeologic principles and practice;
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of hydrogeologic work;
- Develop and implement work plans for characterizing the water resources of aquifer basins;
- Provide peer and critical review of technical reports;
- Participate on technical committees involved in the development of numerical models;
- Develop and apply numerical models;
- Prepare written technical reports to communicate results of studies and analyses;
- Make oral presentations to agency personnel, technical experts, and the public;
Minimum QualificationsExperience: designing and implementing statewide and/or regional operations and/or programs in one of the following hydrogeologic specialties: ground water flow and monitoring, ground water quality monitoring and protection or regional ground water modeling; reviewing hydrogeologic analyses and making decisions relative to their merit. Registration as a Professional Geologist is required as defined in Idaho Code Title 54, Chapter 28. Registration as a Professional Geologist is required within six months of hire.
