The principal function of an employee in this class is to provide technical support and program assistance related to City water resource programs and projects.

- Provides technical support and assistance in the planning, development and implementation of water quality monitoring, conservation programs and water resource projects.
- Assists in the development and presentation of public education materials, training and outreach programs.
- Collects water samples from a variety of sources and monitors sample collections and related equipment maintenance; provides updates on test results; uses results to demonstrate compliance with federal and state drinking water standards.
- Gathers, researches and analyzes data; prepares documentation, maps, drawings, estimates, reports, plans and correspondence for internal benchmarking, regulatory compliance, and informing governing boards.
- Assists in developing and updating databases for tracking and forecasting water demands and laboratory results.
- Responds to public information requests, inquiries and complaints; researches records and documents and provides information.
- Manages records and information in any format, in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and City policy, guidance and records retention schedule.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Acceptable Experience and TrainingTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Chemistry, Ecology, Geography, Engineering Science, Geology or a closely related field and two years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Depending on assignment, some positions may require:
- Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record;
- Oregon Boater Education Card from the Oregon State Marine Board.

Primary Responsibilities:
This position will support a variety of projects related to source water (rivers, streams, lakes), drinking water quantity, and individual customer’s water use. They will have one eye on the natural environment and one eye on the built infrastructure.
• Track and report trends in water availability, water treatment, and customer demands. Compile, summarize, analyze, and display data generated by the Department and outside sources, and housed in specialized databases.
• Research and analyze information related to past, present, and future water consumption.
• Assist implementing source water protection programs in coordination with several stakeholder organizations.
• Support source water protection projects to understand the watershed and reinforce environmentally responsible land uses.
• Engage with members of the public on water topics and respond to customer inquiries and concerns.
• Aid in providing customer rebates for purchase and installing of water saving devices and personalized customer water audits.
• Develop and generate graphics, memos, and reports
