Oregon Rural Action, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operating in five eastern Oregon Counties, is seeking two full-time Community Organizers. Oregon Rural Action is a membership-based sustainability organization working to build sustainable rural communities. Through outreach and organizing our members take action on a range issues, from food and agriculture, energy, the environment, healthcare, local economies and social justice. We are an affiliate of the Western Organization of Resource Councils (ww.worc.org)

This is a full-time, at-will, salaried position.

Salary range is $27-32,000 DOE, with excellent benefits.

Community Organizers support and empower members and/or a specific Chapter through advocacy, policy and campaign work and any other member-driven work that support and further Oregon Rural Action’s mission and priorities for sustainable communities and natural resource protection. Organizers are responsible for meeting campaign goals and objectives, identifying community needs, developing resources and partnerships, and conducting outreach, events and communications that strengthen the Organization, Chapters, and at-large membership and leaders.

Community Organizers work independently with a high level of responsibility and discretion in his/her work assignments both in the designated focus area and as a member of the Organizing Team.

In addition to implementing broad organizational goals above, this Organizer position is primarily responsible for Oregon Rural Action’s energy campaign and is responsible for current and emerging sustainable energy work including both clean and “dirty” energy projects, such as Solarize Union and Solarize Malheur Counties, Power Past Coal campaign, and other energy events and activities.
