Parametrix , a premier Northwest-based engineering, planning and environmental sciences consulting firm works hard to create a fun, compassionate, supportive environment. Our Puget Sound Region is looking for a GIS ANALYST (with a planning or science background ) to be based out of our Bellevue location and be responsible for GIS mapping, data creation and analysis services for a variety of complex environmental, transportation and water projects. The successful candidate will join our Environmental Planning & Compliance Division or Transportation Division, depending on relevant experience and interest and work across business lines to collaborate with Engineers, Scientists and Planners.
Work responsibilities will include: acquisition and consolidation of geospatial data files, organization and maintenance of data catalogs, creation and attribution of GIS data, generation of production, quality figures and cartography and development and documentation of data analyses. Candidates must be proficient in ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of mapping software, and those with professional GIS experience are preferred. Candidates must understand principles, practices, and techniques of GIS data development, management, and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in GIS and a strong background in applying GIS to planning and environmental analysis and problem solving and previous experience building a GIS client base. Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, or Natural Resource Management or related field, with strong GIS coursework. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills; be highly self-motivated and directed, have keen attention to detail, ability to analyze problems, procedures and requirements to assist in determining better alternative solutions; experience assessing project feasibility and requirements and preparing instructional documents; proven experience using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines and the ability to provide high-quality products in a fast-paced service and quality oriented environment.
