Community Organizer

Health Care for All-Washington is an advocacy group building a state-wide network of supporters working for high quality, sustainable, publicly-funded health care for ALL Washingtonians. We are seeking a creative, passionate, and effective campaign manager to develop that grassroots network. Hours will vary from ten to twenty hours a week depending on special projects. This is a contractual position, with pay based upon previous experience. You will help develop and implement campaign building strategies with volunteers and a board. Ideal candidates will have experience with movement building and volunteer engagement.

In addition successful applicant for this position should have the following qualities:

 Belief that healthcare is a human right
 Experience working on issue based advocacy campaigns
 Experience working on legislative politics and interacting with state government
 Knowledge of how to manage and grow a non-profit organization, including fundraising
 Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills including being comfortable with public speaking, training and interacting with all types of people.
 Ability to manage your time independently and operate with minimal supervision
 Willingness to travel to different areas of Washington State
 Ability to motivate and activate others

Responsibilities for this position includes:

 Developing and implementing campaign strategies that advance mission of HCFA-WA
 Developing and maintaining relationships with members of the public, other community organizations, and government officials,
 Building power for the campaign through outreach, creating networks, and raising funds
 Growing the organization by identifying, training, and developing leaders to become successful volunteers, advocates, and fundraisers for HCFA-WA
 Interacting with legislators and state agencies to promote HCFA-WA public policy.
 Attending legislative meetings, public hearings, information sessions on behalf of organization
 Developing and maintaining strong public relations strategy including framing, messaging, press releases, reports, blogs, and other communications strategies that advance campaign narrative
